In Rivalia Online, wands and staffs are the primary weapons for spellcasters, each offering unique advantages in combat. Both weapons require Magic Runes to function, and their damage scales with the wielder’s Magic Level. Additionally, using wands and staffs with Magic Runes contributes to Magic Level training, making them a valuable tool for both combat and progression. Staffs train Magic Level faster than Wands, making them the preferred choice for skill training.

Wands

  • Type: One-Handed

  • Range: 7

  • Attack Style: Single-target damage

  • Ammunition: Requires Sparking Magic Runes or Explosive Magic Runes

  • Advantages:

    • Can be used with a shield or off-hand item for extra defense.

    • Provides better survivability in combat.

    • Ideal for low-level spellcasters or those who prefer controlled, precise attacks.

    • Trains Magic Level, but at a slower rate compared to Staffs.

Staffs

  • Type: Two-Handed

  • Range: 7

  • Attack Style: Area-of-effect (3x3) damage

  • Ammunition: Requires Sparking Magic Runes or Explosive Magic Runes

  • Advantages:

    • Hits multiple enemies at once, making it effective for crowd control.

    • Higher base damage output compared to wands.

    • Best suited for offensive spellcasters who prioritize raw damage over defense.

    • Trains Magic Level faster than Wands, making it the preferred choice for skill training.

Magic Runes

Both Wands and Staffs rely on Magic Runes as ammunition. These runes deal physical damage, similar to how burst arrows worked in older eras, but their effectiveness is based on the wielder’s Magic Level.

Sparking Magic Runes

  • Words: Exevo Runa Spargo

  • Mana: 20

  • Magic Level: 0

  • Requires: Nothing

  • Effect: Deals capped physical damage, making it a balanced option for low-level spellcasters.

  • Scaling: While affected by Magic Level, its damage is intentionally limited to prevent excessive power early on.

  • Use Case: Designed for early-game magic users, offering a reliable but controlled damage output.

  • Training: Can be used efficiently for Magic Level training due to its lower cost and steady damage.

Explosive Magic Runes

  • Words: Exevo Runa Fulgor

  • Mana: 180

  • Magic Level: 40

  • Requires: Blank Rune

  • Effect: Deals significantly higher physical damage, making it the stronger option between the two.

  • Scaling: Fully scales with Magic Level, making it much more powerful at higher levels.

  • Use Case: Intended for high-level spellcasters, providing a major damage boost over Sparking Magic Runes.

  • Training: Also contributes to Magic Level training, though typically used for combat rather than pure skill training.
