Proxy bidding is an automated auction system used in the Character Bazaar of Rivalia Online. Instead of manually increasing bids every time someone outbids you, the system bids on your behalf, up to a maximum amount you choose.

This creates fair, competitive auctions while preventing unnecessary bid spam and last-second chaos.

🧠 How Proxy Bidding Works (Step by Step)

1. Seller lists a character for auction

   • The seller sets:

     • A starting bid

     • An auction duration

   • The auction becomes visible after the next server save (not instantly).

2. Buyer places a bid (maximum bid)

   • When you bid, you are actually setting the maximum amount of points you are willing to pay.

   • This maximum is hidden from other players.

3. System places automatic bids

   • The system automatically bids the minimum required increment to keep you in the lead.

   • If someone bids below your maximum, the system instantly outbids them for you.

4. Competing bids

   • If another player places a higher maximum bid than yours:

     • The system compares both maximums

     • The highest maximum wins

     • The winner only pays slightly above the second-highest bid, not their full maximum

5. Auction ends

   • When the timer expires:

     • The highest bidder wins the character

     • Points are transferred (minus applicable taxes)

     • The character is delivered automatically
